ABSTRACT
Today the main objective of energy policy at regional, national and international levels is reducing
heat, electricity and gas, and increase the efficiency of equipment in buildings. This objective is
also reflected in local politics defining the framework for investment activities. The article presents
an estimate of the achievable energy savings for the city, taking into account the technical documents
for public buildings. Described estimation has been done on the basis of GIS data for selected buildings,
medium-sized city in the western part of the Polish. Observations and conclusions presented in this article may be relevant to the regions, which are interested in reduction of energy consumption
of buildings, neighborhoods and cities. It was found that the main entity, responsible for monitoring
processes to reduce energy demand, are the municipal governments, and the defined objectives
can not be achieved without a responsible
