ABSTRACT
This paper describes the assessment of the impact of the aggregate type and the quantity of the aerating
admixture on the thermal parameters of lightweight concretes, based on expanded clay aggregate
and fly ash aggregate as well as the ordinary concrete. A total of twelve mixtures were tested, in the
composition of which the aerating admixture constituted 0%, 0.8%, 1.1% and 1.4% of the cement
weight. Thermal testing was carried out by a non-stationary method using the Isomet 2104 instrument.
The analysis confirms that lightweight concretes have much better thermal insulating properties
compared to normal concretes. The conducted research also showed that using air-entraining admixture
it is possible to obtain even better thermal insulation properties of concretes based on lightweight
aggregates.
