If your paper is basically a list of taxa, not differentiated spatially or temporally (e.g. simple lists of taxa occurring in the area, red data list, protected species list), the species checklist table may be chosen – it is more simple in structure and preparation, but less informative than the other type. To prepare it, we suggest the following:
- download template of checklist table
file
- please note that in the template file there are two sheets: ‘Classification’ and ‘README’. In the README sheet you can find file purpose and description and you are supposed to complete your data in the ‘Classification’ sheet. Please note that column headers contain detailed explanations of the content you are supposed to include.
- complete all required fields (yellow highlighted in the template file), i.e.:
-- taxonID - a global unique identifier or an identifier specific to the data set, e.g. http://species.gbif.org/abies_alba_1753
-- scientificName - the full scientific name, with authorship and date information if known. This should be the name in lowest level taxonomic rank that can be determined, e.g. Amanita muscaria (L.) Lam. 1783
-- taxonRank - the taxonomic rank of the most specific name, e.g. species
- if you can, complete also recommended fields (orange highlighted in the template file)

example data
