60 years ago, the journal Physicochemical Problems of Mineral Processing (PPMP) was established. Its initiators and long-time Editors-in-Chief included Professors Jan Drzymała and Andrzej Łuszczkiewicz, specialists in mineral engineering and distinguished employees of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Since 2015, Professor Przemyslaw B. Kowalczuk has served as Editor-in-Chief of PPMP.

As part of the 9th Mineral Engineering Conference MEC 2026, whose Honorary Committee members are Professors Jan Drzymała and Andrzej Łuszczkiewicz, a special issue of the journal was prepared entitled "Contemporary Directions of Development of Mineral Engineering", promoting cooperation between business and science in the field of broadly understood mineral engineering, including mineral processing with its fundamentals and process technology.

The articles are the subject of research in the fields of surface physicochemistry, mineralogical analysis, geometallurgy, bio- and hydrometallurgy, waste management, aggregate production and research, and ecology. The presented works are both fundamental and utilitarian in nature and meet the criteria for publication in the journal "Physicochemical Problems of Mineral Processing": novelty, quality, and relevance.

Article submission deadline: 30 September 2026
