The structures of the electrical double layer at the Al2O3-SiO2/NaClO4 interface with different alumina-to-silica ratios were interpreted using the surface complexation model. The surface charge and potential ζ of the system has been determined as a function of pH for 0.1, 0.01, and 0.001 mol/dm3 solutions of NaClO4. A significant difference in the pH values of IEP and point of zero charge was observed for Al2O3-SiO2 samples. The ionization and complexation constants have also been determined.
