ABSTRACT
This article focuses, in particular, on the role of urban interior lighting, which on the one hand is a crucial
element for creating urban space and on the other hand is a significant source of light pollution. One of
the factors generating light pollution is the use of lighting with too high an intensity. For the purposes of
the study, only street light installations were considered as light polluting emitters. The occurrence of light
pollution is facilitated by legal regulations, including road lighting. The paper shows that the selection of
parameters such as: type of light sources, colour temperature, intensity of emitted light, luminaire and
location of lighting installation can mitigate light pollution.
