ABSTRACT
Effects of NaOH on the flotation of spodumene, quartz and feldspar minerals using oleic acid as collector were investigated through micro flotation tests and bench scale flotation tests. It was recommended that NaOH acted more than a pH regulator in these tests. The analysis of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that spodumene mineral was preferentially leached by conditioning in high concentration of NaOH solution and exposed more Li positive sites on the mineral surface, which promoted the flotation of spodumene.
